Dave Yudowitz is Moe in Lab’s ’55 and Over
Opening for a limited, 3-performance run on May 26 at Lab Theater is a new play (which is actually still under development) by Zalman Velvel by the name of 55 and Over. It shines a stark light on severely burdened seniors, that is retired folks living exclusively on Social Security who shell out more than half of their income for rent. 55 and Over revolves around a 75-year-old by the name of Moe who’s been evicted from his apartment because he opted for groceries and his expensive heart medication in lieu of paying his rent.
Dave Yudowitz plays the role of Moe. Lab Theater patrons will remember Dave Yudowitz from The Diary of Anne Frank. He also stood out in 2014’s summer stock hit, Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays, in which he rendered a riveting and touching eulogy for his recently-deceased gay partner of many years in a vignette titled London Mosquitoes by Moises Kaufman. Other Lab Theater performances include The Interview, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, Picasso at the Lapine Agile, The Plague and both Mueller and Marley in Laura Lorusso’s Scrooge TV.
