Spotlight on ‘Festival of Tens’ playwright Patrick Erhardt

The Laboratory Theater of Florida is presenting its first-ever festival of ten-minute plays this weekend. The Festival of Tens will showcase the work of five adult students who have studied with Lab Theater playwright Louise Wigglesworth for several years, vis: Melanie Payne, Candice Sanzari, Nancy Stetson, Linda Saether and Patrick Erhardt.

Lab Theater audiences remember Patrick from performances in Sordid Lives (he played Wardell “Bubba” Owens), Whatever Happened to Baby Jane: A Parody of the Horror (Mrs. Bates), Body & Sold, and Arthur Kopit’s Wings (which marked his Lab Theater main stage debut). Other Lab credits include The 24-Hour Playwriting Project and staged readings of True Colors and In the Shadow of Queens.

Patrick has nearly three decades of theatrical experience, both on stage and behind the director’s chair. His favorite roles have been Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, Peter in Jesus Christ Superstar, Jacques in Stinkin’ Rich and five characters in Les Miserables. Some of Pat’s directing projects include On Golden Pond, A Christmas Story and The Psychic (which earned him a Broadway World Best Director nomination). In addition to acting and directing, Patrick also sings. And now he is venturing forth boldly into the exciting new realm of playwriting in Lab’s inaugural Festival of Tens.

Festival of Tens performance will be at 8:00 p.m. on April 26 and 27 and at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 28. Tickets are available to purchase on Brownpapertickets.com or by calling the box office at 239-218-0481.

April 25, 2019.
