94.9 The City’s Jade Alexa McClelland returns March 1 as TGIM celeb judge
Jade Alexa McClelland last served on the TGIM judging panel in November of 2019. A lot has happened since then. So come out on March 1 to find out what the professional playlist maker and 94.9 program director has going on now.
Jade loves film, and watches a lot of it. Her window into what she watches starts with production value – the quality of the cinematography, lighting and audio. To provide insight into her thought processes, it helps to know that her favorite film is Requiem for a Dream starring Ellen Burstyn, 
Jared Leto and Jennifer Connelly. The 2000 Darren Aronofsky film portrays the mental states of four addicts. When they use, a window opens briefly into a world where everything is right. Then it slides shut, and life reduces itself to a search for the money and drugs needed to open it again, with nothing else being even remotely interesting.
Of more interest to McClelland than the subject matter, though, was Aronofsky’s approach to the film. In Requiem, the filmmaker pieced together hip hop montages of extremely short clips. While an average 100-minute film 
has 600 to 700 cuts, for example, Requiem features more than 2,000. Aronofsky (who made the hallucinatory Pi two years earlier) also made extensive use in Requiem of split-screens, extremely tight close-ups, long tracking shots (including those shot with a Snorricam strapped to the actor) and time-lapse photography.
Over the past year, Jade has been focused on turning 94.9 The City into a sustainable community platform for urban Fort Myers. Toward that end, Jade works non-stop to promote 
community through hip-hop music and culture via radio transmission – to capture the of sound our city, promote our culture, and take radio back to the streets “because Fort Myers got something to say.”
The station is owned and operated by Radio Free Fort Myers, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2013 to serve as the unifying voice of urban Fort Myers through hyperlocal programming, music, cultural discussion and education via FM radio transmission. 
Broadcasting live from downtown Fort Myers, 94.9 The City (WOKE-LP) is home to a sound and cultural movement not currently represented on commercial FM airwaves.
As The City’s website touts, “We were created to be that soundtrack — a station programmed by and for the people.”

Tom Hall is both an amateur artist and aspiring novelist who writes art quest thrillers. He is in the final stages of completing his debut novel titled "Art Detective," a story that fictionalizes the discovery of the fabled billion-dollar Impressionist collection of Parisian art dealer Josse Bernheim-Jeune, thought by many to have perished during World War II when the collection's hiding place, Castle de Rastignac in southern France, was destroyed by the Wehrmacht in reprisal for attacks made by members of the Resistance operating in the area.
