James Robinson
James Robinson is an actor and director.
Robinson earned a BFA in Theater/Acting from Emerson College and an MS in Urban Affairs from Hunter College. He studied acting and directing at Emerson, the Trinity Rep Conservatory in Providence, Circle in the Square/NYU and in New York City with Larry Arrick, Gene Feist (founder of The Roundabout Theater), John Basil and Betty Buckley. He has acted and directed in New York, Massachusetts, Vermont, Rhode Island and Florida.
Locally, you may have seen James in Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House (Dr. Rank) for Theatre Conspiracy at the Alliance for the Arts and The Eight: Reindeer Monologues at Lab Theatre (he played Donner) for Lab Theater. Other favorite roles include Ross in Spinning into Butter and Peter Patrone in The Heidi Chronicles.
Favorite directing projects include Gypsy, Italian American Reconciliation, Come Back to the 5 and Dime Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean. James also directed Mothers & Sons for The Lab and was part of the set construction crew for Sirens, which was directed by Anne Dodd.
